                   SOMETHINGS FOR THE WEEKEND...

Well, they said it could snow and it did ( is )! Mind you we don't get snow like they do back east but it 's still enough to stop traffic and disrupt peoples plans. I know right? waaaa...boo hoo.
People across the country are digging out of their drive ways and dropping dead and here I am crying about 1/2 inch ( more or less)... Food for thought..." it's not always about you!"

Here are a few things we thought you might like to know about;

So, Rudy Giuliani's mouth... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2014/11/23/giuliani-white-police-officers-wouldnt-be-there-if-you-werent-killing-each-other/

If you are not a fan or just don't watch Saturday Night Live...you may have missed this classic with a twist; http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/23/politics/schoolhouse-rock-bill-snl-obama/

Here is the original version; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyeJ55o3El0

Pets! What would we do without them? They keep us sane and loved and warm when they snuggle. They make us human; http://www.everydayhealth.com/pain-management/how-pets-can-ease-chronic-pain.aspx?xid=aol_eh-pain_2_20141117_&aolcat=ESO&icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl36%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D569581

And last but certainly not least, the great Toni Morrison teaches Steven Colbert about race; http://www.makers.com/blog/toni-morrison-schools-stephen-colbert-race?icid=maing-grid7%7Cmain5%7Cdl37%7Csec3_lnk3%26pLid%3D569449

                        GOBBLE, GOBBLE, GOBBLE...
                                                               ( and I'm in color!)

Well, here we are, another Thanksgiving is upon us. It's time to give thanks for ... hum -m-m-m...
Now, I can say this because I'm a cat...but you humans don't seem to be doing too well these days. What with all the political wrangling you can't seem to get a bridge built or a road fixed. You are fighting multiple wars that never seem to end. You have more homeless children than ever before and more people living in poverty even though they are sometimes working two jobs You are gutting the planet with fracking and drilling and deforestation, all so that you can drive farther in bigger cars, pay less for oil and buy more stuff that we all know you really don't need. You wring your hands when there is yet another school shooting but do nothing to prevent the next one and you think that just because you say that racism no longer exists because "hey we have an African American President don't we?", that somehow makes it true. So you dissect voting rights, let corporations throw billions of dollars at whoever they want and then you cry when the election process is a joke so you don't vote at all...

OK, OK...let's start over...

It's almost Thanksgiving! It's the time of year we reflect on our humble little lives and give thanks for all the things we hold near and dear to our hearts.
We eat too much and watch a lot of sporty type games. We argue with Uncle Harold about politics and why in Gods name is it so hard to get background checks for guns? And he reminds us that President Obama is sending more and more troops into Iraq...then we all settle back for another piece of Aunt Lucy's pumpkin pie, even though none of us really needs another piece and discuss why Stewart isn't married yet, Gwen hasn't gotten that promotion and why Margaret is such a bi**h.
At the end of the evening we go about gathering up our coats and hats as we head for the door on our long way home. We curse the traffic and the weather and swear that next year we will make some excuse not to join in the festivities.

But here's the thing...no matter how much we bi**h and moan about it all, there is something about this time of year that makes us better people. If only for a few weeks. We smile a little easier, we give a little more to others and for all intents and purposes we are a little happier with the world in general. For those few weeks we see the better part of people and we are better people and the world is a better place.
Wouldn't it be great if this year we could manage to make it last a little bit longer than for those few weeks in November and December...now wouldn't that be something?

Just don't forget about that first paragraph for too long, OK?

Something to think about on this Thanksgiving holiday: The number of homeless children in this country has risen dramatically; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/17/child-homelessless-us_n_6169994.html
Take a minute and go to the link and tell congress to pass the Homeless Children And Youth Act;

It's time once again for sticky paws and hairballs vs. fuzzy hugs and kitty kisses!

First up; we are giving a big sticky paw to the NRA. If you love your pet you may want to take a look at this... click on the link and prepare yourself!
http://www.salon.com/2014/10/29/stephen_colbert_blasts_the_nras_power_in_pennsylvania_the_nra_defeated_the_anti_pet_eating_bill/

A bully, is a bully, is a bully...so next we are giving a big hairball to Governor Chris Christie for being a bully. I don't care who you are or what your opinion... this is unacceptable behavior from any adult especially one who is an elected official.
My advice to Mr. Christie... grow up or stop talking. Haven't you learned, "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" - Thumper from the movie Bambi.

We want to give a big kitty kiss to the mind of Vincent Van Gogh: check out this discovery in his paintings;

Next a big fuzzy hug to Texas, yep you heard me; http://thedailyshow.cc.com/videos/0sqnz7/democalypse-2014---south-by-south-mess---the-state-of-texas-

A big fuzzy hug to dogs...this puppy has his own way of doing things! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/19/golden-retriever-dog-fails-obedience-test-video_n_6186890.html

And last but not least we are giving a big kitty kiss and a fuzzy hug to the song "Soft Kitty" from  The Big Bang Theory; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIp77PUvLTE

                                      On Immigration...

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
with conquering limbs astride from land to land;
here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
a mighty woman with a torch whose flame
is the imprisoned lightning and her name,
mother of exiles. From her beaconed hand
glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
the air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

" Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!"
cries she with silent lips." Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breath free.
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
Emma Lazarus ( 1849-1887 )

The Statue Of Liberty was not conceived or sculpted as a symbol of immigration, yet with the addition of this poem which was placed on a bronze plaque inside, she became the unofficial greeter
of all incoming immigrants from around the world.

Later today the president will give a speech on what he plans to do on immigration reform. There has been a lot of huffing and puffing by certain politicians in Washington over the last week on the actions that the president is suspected to take. Perhaps if those who are doing all that huffing and puffing had taken the bi-patrician Senate bill to a vote or come up with their own viable plan that wasn't just "send them all back", there would be nothing to huff and puff about...

This country was conceived intentionally on the premise that we are a nation of immigrants. This is something we should be proud of, it makes us who we are. Why are we trying to re write history? What are we so afraid of?
Thoughts?

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's The Weekend And You Know What That Means...
It's time for sticky paws and hairballs vs. fuzzy hugs and kitty kisses!

First, a big fuzzy hug to the folks in Seattle who are raising money via an Indiegogo campaign to start The Meowtroplitan CafĂ©! Check it out and donate at; http://www.seattlemeowtropolitan.com/

Next; a big fuzzy hug to Tom Butt of Richmond, California who bucked the odds and won his race for mayor last Tuesday. The odds were BIG odds as in Chevron Oil, who shelled out 1.3 Million with an M on a candidate who would do their bidding despite what was good for the area, against Tom's 40 thousand as in dollars not millions not billions just dollars... http://richmondconfidential.org/2014/11/05/progressives-capture-city-hall-and-council-fending-off-chevron-money/ sometimes the little guy actually does win!

Proving once again that we here at Noodle's blog can be totally bipartisan; we give a big sticky paw to President Obama for increasing the number of non combat troops being sent to Iraq. What started this summer at around 245 is now closer to 3100, and counting? We will be watching...; http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/obama-authorizes-1500-additional-troops-iraq

A sticky paw served up with Alka Seltzer to PepsiCo and Doritos who have combined Mountain Dew and the taste of Doritos to make a new "dewrink".
"it tastes like you took a drink of Mountain Dew and ate some Doritos at the same time, then threw up a little bit in your mouth"- Steven Colbert; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2827610/Mountain-Dew-confirms-making-Dorito-s-flavored-soda.html

And speaking of Mr. Colbert, we want to give him a kitty kiss for his "The Word" segment on Tuesday which clarifies the newly elected Republican majority's agenda going forward;

LATE BREAKING NEWS;
I love writing that!
A big fuzzy hug to the tiger that is apparently roaming around just outside of Paris...that's Paris France in case you were wondering if maybe I was talking about Paris, Texas or something...
A tiger was spotted earlier today and the police have been busy trying not only to find it but also trying to figure out where the heck it came from! http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30035666

And last up a big fuzzy hug to great music! Take a listen...great voice, great song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cb0AHg0PSNY

                 And Now, Something For The Weekend...

We here at Noodle's Blog are suffering from post election madness and so we thought we'd take this opportunity to share a bit of intriguing cat trivia with you;

In 1968 the Army began experimenting with the use of "night eyes" or "seeing eye cats". The Army had for a long time been quietly impressed with the night vision of cats. The mission of the project was to employ this special ability; harnessed cats were to lead foot-soldiers through the thick jungle during the dead of night.
Certain people in high command had such enthusiasm for the idea that an order was given that "night eyes" be field tested, so the operation was put into use in Viet Nam on an experimental basis.
After a month of night maneuvering with the seeing-eye cats, a report was filed with the section on Unconventional Warfare which in part stated; "...A squad, upon being ordered to move out, was lead off in all different directions by the cats.
"...On many occasions the animals lead the troops racing through thick brush in pursuit of field mice and birds.
"...Troops had to force the cats to follow the direction of the patrol; the practice often led to the animals stalking and attacking the dangling pack straps of the American soldiers marching directly in front of them.
"...If the weather was inclement or even threatening inclemency, the cats were never anywhere to be found.
"...Often when the troops were forced to take cover, the animals took this opportunity to sharpen their claws on the boots of the troops, regardless of the seriousness of the situation.
"...A number of the troops traded their animals to Vietnamese women for their favors. When questioned about this, the troops claimed the animals ran away.

   The project was suspended.

So OK... we'd like to take a moment to congratulate the Republicans on their wins in the House and the Senate (no one can say we are sore losers). But now that they have won unfortunately I see only two possible scenarios for the newly elected Republican stronghold...

When you wish upon a star...

Scenario #1...

OK you guys, now that we have the House AND the Senate we need to show the country that they should vote for us in 2016! Here's the plan; we sat around on our hands for 6 years doing nothing but being obstructive then we convinced everybody that the reason nothing got passed was all Obama's fault. His poll numbers dropped and we ran the board Tuesday night...but now that we are in... we pass some small bit of insignificant immigration reform, a watered down version of a  jobs bill, we throw a teeny tiny little bit of money at infrastructure all while passing the Keystone Pipeline, ripping out the Affordable care Act and lowering taxes on the rich even more. In other words business as usual...with a little smoke and mirrors thrown in!
Then in 2016, we look great and have a good chance of getting the Latino vote because, hey we actually passed something on immigration no matter how insignificant it was. We take back the White House and lock out the Dems forever with gerrymandering, dark money and our appointees to the Supreme Court...ta da!

Scenario #2...

Impeach the President
Overturn Obama Care
Take Personhood and make it law in all 50 states...
Impeach the President
Turn back gay rights
Abolish the minimum wage in all states
Impeach the President...
Oh, and expand gun rights to include tanks and rocket launchers ( or maybe those are already legal! )
and don't forget to...impeach the President!

And, the oh so unlikely scenario #3...

Of course there is a 3rd option but it's so remote that I hesitate to even mention it...
For whatever reason sanity prevails and everyone works together and the country prospers and the economy booms and we become the rational people's democracy that we were set up to be and we all live happily ever after...Fairy tales have been known to come true...

Watch this space!
