WORDY WEDNESDAY...

"Oh no, here she comes with that thing again..."

"Maybe I can hide back here..."

"You know, you can be really annoying..."

" Fine, but I'm not looking at you..."

SOME THINGS FOR THE WEEK END + STICKY PAWS AND HAIR BALLS vs. KITTY KISSES AND FUZZY HUGS...

A sticky paw to John Boehner. After being approached by two thirteen year old girls at his favorite breakfast place to politely ask him why he won't let a vote for immigration reform come to the
floor of the house... he lied to them and the American people stating that he was working on it and wanted to get to it as soon as possible.
Now groups have formed in front of his home, awaiting an explanation.
Awkward! Come on John, if you have nothing to feel ashamed of, it shouldn't be hard to talk to the people...

A Big hairball to Walmart for not paying their employees wages that are enough to live on and then setting up donation bins for said employee's for Thanksgiving. Here's a thought, maybe you could just pay them a livable wage.

A Fuzzy hug to Harry Reid for finally doing something about the filibuster. Maybe you guys can get some stuff done now.

And on this the fiftieth anniversary of the Kennedy assassination...this is what my human remembers:

It was a large converted closet that had assumed the position of pantry for the purposes of our home economics class. But that morning it became a confessional for my teacher as she visibly struggled
to contain her composure in front of the student who had walked in unexpectedly. Things were very different then, There was no internet, no 24 hour cable news, no tweeting or texting and no cell phones. A party line wasn't a reference to politics, it meant more than one house hold shared a phone line and almost everyone still had black and white television sets. So seeing my teacher there in the pantry, hands smashed into her face wet with tears was stunning and scary. There were several moments of awkward silence but then she looked at me with eyes so haunted I can still see them in my mind after all these years. She spoke in a voice so small I thought I had imagined it. " They shot the President" she said then she turned and walked out into the class room and I stood there... waiting.

Where were you?

And on a lighter note. An old Texas proverb as relayed on an episode of The Big Bang Theory:
"Just cause a cat has kittens in the oven, don't make 'em biscuits"

Some Things For The Weekend... and more Sticky Paws and Hairballs vs. Kitty Kisses and Fuzzy Hugs:

Let me begin by stating that I am not against people having guns. I am however one of many who believe that there is no place in society for automatic weapons and huge ammunition clips unless you are a member of a legitimate law enforcement agency or military organization by which I mean you are in combat ( actual, legal ) combat.

I am also in favor of background checks. Especially for those weapons sold over the Internet and at gun shows that said...

A huge, super sticky, sticky paw to the overly extreme gun enthusiasts who showed up at a cafe parking lot in Texas to intimidate  a group of moms who were meeting to discuss what can be done about gun control in the wake of events like Sandy Hook, Aurora and all the other recent places where gun violence has erupted.
Four women meeting to have a discussion vs. forty automatic gun toting, pro gun enthusiasts.
Check it out at  http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2013/11/10/2921121/dallas-gun-advocates-protest-restaurant-gun-control-advocates/

Hairy, Hairy hair balls to the most absurd twist on gun laws we've heard yet!
A state legislator in Idaho... You really have to read this yourself!
http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2013/nov/12/idaho-rep-mark-patterson-can-carry-gun-without/

OK, enough about guns...

A big fuzzy hug to The Cat On My Head for giving me a " shout out ", thanks you guys! It makes me warm and fuzzy all over!

A big kitty kiss to Cat Scouts! I was accepted into the fold a week ago and I'm ready to learn everything I can! I will try my best to be the best Cat Scout possible!

Just for something a little different thought I would throw in a photo of my human playing with the big kitties...

And lastly; Here is a link to a very good cat news letter put out by Tufts University veterinary medicine department http://tuftscatnip.com/

It's Time For Sticky Paws and Hair balls vs. Fuzzy Hugs and Kitty Kisses!

Many, many kitty kisses to all Veteran's. We salute you and thank you!

Fuzzy hugs to the new mental health care laws that are taking place due to the Affordable Care Act! With all the mass shootings we have had that seem to stem at least in part due to some form of mental health issue, this is great news! If we can't pass gun control, this is the best way to help with this ongoing societal problem.

A big sticky paw to Sarah Palin for just opening her mouth in the context of:  "I know what I'm talking about." "Sarah, please leave the stage... no one cares!"

A big hair ball to all of the " journalists" who insist on battering John Kerry for having a personal opinion! For goodness sake, I thought we lived in a country where there was freedom of speech, not freedom to mock speech. OK, so the man has an opinion on the Kennedy assassination that you don't

agree with. Get over it! It's an opinion !

And a big Fuzzy hug to Ray Tomlinson who sent the very first e-mail back in 1971!

Happy Veterans Day,

Noodle

SOMETHINGS FOR THE WEEK END:

It was election day in many places this past Tuesday. Here in Washington state we had a vote on whether or not to label food that has been genetically altered, that included pet foods. Although there was overwhelming support for, the big business interests came in and spent millions of dollars from out-of-state to make sure it did not pass.
As I write this we are still awaiting the outcome but it is not looking
good. This same thing happened in
California a couple of years ago.

Almost 70% of voters were in favor of the labeling but the big organisations like Monsanto              came in with money and it was defeated. So, how's that corporations are people thing working out? Great if you're a corporation I guess...
To learn more about this and other food related issues, check out: www.fooddemocracynow.org

Next: Voting rights!
Please people, FIX THIS! It will be the undoing of what is left of our democracy. OK, enough politics.

My human came across this amazing poem in The Big New Yorker Book Of Cats and just wanted to share:

PROPINQUITY
by: Alastair Reid

Propinquity is the province of cats. Living by accident,
lapping the food at hand, or sleeking down
in an adjacent lap when sleep occurs to them,
never aspiring to consistency
in homes or partners, unaware of property,
cats take their chances, love by need and nearness
as long as the need lasts,
as long as the nearness
is near enough. The code of cats is simply
to take what comes. And those poor souls who claim
to own a cat, who long to recognize
in bland and narrowing eyes a look like love,
are bound to suffer should they expect
cats to come purring punctually home.
Home is only where the food and the fire are,
but might be anywhere. Cats fall on their feet,
nurse their own wounds, attend to their own laundry,
and purr at appropriate times. O folly, folly
to love a cat, and yet
we dress with love the distance that they keep,
the hair-raising way they have, and easily blame
all the abandon litters  and torn ears
on some marauding tiger. Well, no matter;
cats do not care.

Yet part of us is cat. Confess-
love turns on accident, and needs nearness; and the various selves we have
all come from our cat-wanderings, our chance
crossings. Imagination prowls at night,
cat-like among odd possibilities.
Only our dog-sense brings us faithfully homeward,
makes meaning out of accident, keeps faith,
and, cat-and-dog, the arguments go at it.
But every night, outside, cat-voices call
out to take a chance, to leave
the safety of our baskets, and to let
what happens, happen." Live, live!" they catcall.
" Each moment is your next! Propinquity,
propinquity is all!"

BLOGGING FOR PEACE:

When I first heard this idea I thought if only everyone could be a part of this. Imagine, everyone! Every single person in the world!

I only hope that those of us who participate will somehow be contagious to others, and they will tell two friends, and they will tell two friends....

Peace: what does it mean to you? A quite afternoon? Being able to pay the bills with a little left over?
A healthy family? Peace in the Middle East? Between your siblings? The neighbors down the block?
Should we be content with peace within our walls or should we strive for more?

Last year my human visited ten schools in very rural areas of Tanzania, Africa. She went with a hope and a prayer of completing an art project that seemed impossible to complete. Everything fell into place and the project was a success! I asked her to share a portion of it with you. I hope it will inspire you to do the unthinkable and know it can be achieved.
Peace is illusive, but it is worth the quest.

This is a paper mural done by students in Seattle, Washington then rolled up and hand delivered to a school in Tanzania, Africa where students placed finger paint covered hand prints over those of the students in Seattle. Dubbed: the " Hand to Hand, Heart to Heart, Child to Child" art project, it was an effort in what seemed like futility but through sheer determination and so much luck that it defies logic, the project worked!

Peace is illusive... keep trying!

Peace be yours always...

Addition to Sticky paws etc....

This is the link to a very important story that Noodle would like everyone to read: http://on.msnbc.com/16JKbE2
We found it after posting our last post.

Noodle hugs

STICKY PAWS AND HAIR BALLS vs. FUZZY HUGS AND KITTY KISSES:

A sticky paw to all the journalists who have made it their mission to discover who the woman is who was the face on the Affordable Care Act website.
Leave the poor woman alone! Hello... she's a model!

A big fuzzy hug to all those who donate to their local food bank.
If you don't already, do it now. Put yourself in the shoes of someone who can not feed their child.

A great big hair ball to Washington...do you know that congress is only scheduled to work 19 more days before the end of the year? And they are thinking of taking additional time off. Must be nice... great work if you can get it.

A big wet kitty kiss to Chris Hayes at MSNBC's All In With Chris Hayes, for coming up with the segment "Click 3"...Check out how differently people are aging as opposed to just 30 years ago...
    http://www.msnbc.com/all-in/all-in-with-chris-hayes-3-awesomest-things

A big fuzzy hug to local fire departments! Not only do they put out fires and come when you call 9-1-1, you can stop by with your kids and get a tour of the fire house and fire trucks or even get your blood pressure taken! That's what I call community spirit.

Did you know: when cats walk, their back feet land exactly in the footprints left by their forefeet?

Cat Physics: A cat is composed of Matter + Anti-Matter + It Doesn't Matter.

And... a little something for El dia de los muertos ( Day of the Dead ) which falls on October 31 through November 2 and is one of Mexico's most important annual holidays. It is a time to remember loved ones now departed by preparing favorite foods and adorning their graves with marigolds and sugar sculls and celebrating their lives with dance and song. Below are images of sand sculptures  prepared for the occasion...

Have a great weekend,
